Christian Petersen, Lecturer, Illustration

Fyodor Šantsõn in his workshop, Narva, Estonia (2016).

Christian describes his practice and research as discrete, but parallel.

In his practice he pursues research-led and visual storytelling projects. The latest begins the eco-dystopian graphic novel Efter København (After Copenhagen), out in mid-2022. His research interests include fieldwork practices, practice-based research, and design fiction & prototyping. His latest published paper is De-signing Ambiguity (Dyer & Petersen, 2021).

Christian sees Pattern and Chaos as a binary that describes his research and design process accurately. In the context of NUA , Pattern and Chaos is his chosen home for academic research and exchanging ideas.

Christian’s next big idea is, as part of his PhD, to formulate a theory of narrative design practice, beyond the studio.
